Norton Brothers Book Company
Norton Brothers Book Company is the most extensive project we have done to date. More than a website, this project involves keeping track of an extensive store inventory, tracking over-the-counter purchases, providing the same database in a searchable desktop application for ease of locating books by the in-store staff, automatically preparing files for upload to Amazon.com, allowing batch addition of products from an external information retrieval tool, and creating a packager to upload the new book listing and all associated cover images in a single step.

A Custom Solution
Larry Norton was one of our first webhosting clients, using a templated online store solution that he had purchased online. Unfortunately, the amount of inventory throughput in his brick and mortar store, combined with the sales he makes on Amazon.com on a daily basis, made it impossible for him to keep the inventory for his web site current.
We worked closely with Larry to design the custom tools required to meet his specific needs, and he now relies on our work every day as he buys and sells books for his store.
His web site is actually the icing on the top of a much larger cake, and with this final piece of the puzzle he now has a complete, professional online image, and a convenient way to perform his day-to-day tasks.
As an unexpected benefit, our database has made it easy for his employees to search and locate products in the store, and will hopefully open the possibility for him to take some vacation time without allowing the great customer service created by an intimate knowledge of the store inventory to suffer in his absence.
